BMW R 12 S Retro Roadster features a lava orange paint job; gets the same 1,170cc boxer engine; engine belts out 108 horsepower and 115 Nm.

BMW Motorrad unveiled the R 12 S, a retro roadster inspired the 1973 BMW R 90 S. Built on the R 12 nine-T’s roots, revealed first in India earlier this year, the bike A fully equipped, spruced-up form of the R nineT, the R 12 S has a Lava Orange Metallic paint job reminiscent of the classic R 90 S Daytona Orange from 1975.

The same 1, 170cc twin-cylinder boxer engine used in the R 12 nineT drives the R 12 S, delivering 108 horsepower and 115 Nm of torque. The engine couples with a 6-speed gearbox. The R 12 S shares its basic elements with the motorcycle it is built on, so the chassis, hardware layout, and cycle components are identical to those of the R 12.

Complementing the great orange look, the R 12 S stands out with black-finished handlebars, black upside-down fork tubes, and BMW Option 719 Classic II spoked wheels with anodised rims. All emphasised in Lava Orange to evoke the 1970s, the bike also features a single seat, bar-end mirrors, rounded half-fairing and headlight with throwback inspiration.

Among the usual conveniences are Cruise Control, Heated Grips, Hill Start Control, and Shift Assistant Pro. BMW Motorrad also offers Headlight Pro, an adaptive cornering light system. R 12 S fits accessories from the R 12 nineT, like soft bags, titanium exhaust systems, and more.
