Urban transport is about to undergo towards a drastic change owing to the Vayve Eva, India’s first solar-powered small electric vehicle. Targeting eco-aware urban commuters, this innovative vehicle was introduced at Bharat Mobility Expo 2025 with introductory rates starting at ₹3.25 lakh (ex-showroom).
Efficiency and Performance
The Eva’s 40Nm rear-wheel drive motor allows it to reach a top speed of 70 kph and finish a sprint from 0 to 40 kph in about 5 seconds. There are three battery capacities: 9 kWh, 12.7 kWh, and 18 kWh. They have respective ranges of 125, 175, and 250 kilometres. An optional solar roof panel can contribute up to 10 km per day, potentially generating 3,000 km of solar energy annually. The Eva is an affordable substitute for conventional gasoline-powered vehicles, with an operating cost of 0.5 per kilometer.
Creative Design
The Eva, measuring 3,060mm in length and 1,150mm in width, was designed for compact urban areas and rides on a 2,200mm wheelbase. With a back bench and a central driver’s seat, its distinctive quadricycle design can hold three people. A dual-screen configuration with a touchscreen and digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a rear parking camera, hill-hold assistance, and climate control are examples of premium features. The car comes in three different models: Vega, Stella, and Niva.
Affordability and Sustainability
Using a DC charger, the Eva’s waterproof IP67-rated battery can be charged quickly, reaching 70% in 15 minutes. In order to save upfront expenses, it also provides a battery subscription service. The top-spec Vega variant costs ₹5.99 lakh with battery, while the Nova variant is priced at ₹3.99 lakh with battery and ₹3.25 lakh with subscription as part of the introductory pricing. An extended battery warranty and free three-year car connectivity are extra perks for the first 25,000 purchasers.
Prospects for the Future
Initially available in Bengaluru and Pune, deliveries are scheduled to start in the second half of 2026. In order to address the issues with urban transit, Vayve Mobility intends a progressive implementation with a focus on cost and sustainability.
