Already on sale abroad, the most recent generation Toyota Land Cruiser Prado was seen in India for the first time. Fascinatingly, Toyota omitted showing the off-roader at the Auto Expo 2025. We have pictures of both the inside and the outside of the SUV since many films lately showed it on a transporter. Let us thus decode what is evident.

Grille vertical slats point to this as the Prado VX version. Highlights include square LED headlights, a 360-degree camera, 20-inch black alloy wheels, side steps and rain-sensing wipers. The VX variant notably lacks a sunroof in regions like Australia, but the car spied had one.

The variant has an all-black inside, a redesigned steering wheel with the “TOYOTA” letter mark, a digital instrument cluster, a touchscreen infotainment probably measuring 12.3 inches, a wireless charging pad, an electrically adjustable driver’s seat and AC vents for the second and third rows.

The Prado has a 2.8-litre diesel engine producing 204hp and 500Nm in Europe and Japan. This is the same unit running the Toyota Fortuner on duty. It does, however, also feature an 8-speed automatic and a 48V mild-hybrid system—not available here. Shared among several Toyota and Lexus models worldwide, Toyota also provides a 2.4-litre petrol-hybrid powertrain in Middle East and North America.
Toyota Land Cruiser Prado India release and pricing
This unit could be en route to Bhutan since we have already established that the new Prado would launch by late 2025. It will lie beneath the Rs 2.10 crore Land Cruiser (LC300) used in India. The Prado will be sold as a CBU so its pricing should be between Rs 1.7 crore and Rs 1.95 crore. Land Rover Defender will be taken on by the Toyota Prado.
