FlixBus India is preparing to add 120 buses to its southern network as the company enters its third year of operations in the region. According to the company, South India now accounts for more than half of its nationwide network, making the region a key part of its expansion strategy.
The planned additions are scheduled across the third and fourth quarters and are intended to increase capacity and strengthen connections between major cities and emerging destinations.
Bengaluru Leads Capacity Growth
FlixBus reported triple-digit year-on-year route growth across several major southern metropolitan markets in September 2026. Bengaluru recorded a 260% increase in network capacity, while routes originating from Hyderabad grew by 159%. Chennai also recorded 100% growth during the same period.
Expansion Across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu
The next stage of the expansion will broaden FlixBus connectivity across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. The company plans to add services serving destinations including Guntur, Coonoor and Ooty.
FlixBus has also introduced a new interstate connection between Hyderabad and Puducherry. The service uses Volvo sleeper coaches, adding another long-distance option to the company’s southern network.
FlixBus Targets Greater Network Density
The planned 120-bus addition is part of FlixBus India’s broader effort to increase network density in South India. The company says its focus is on connecting more cities while providing additional capacity on existing corridors.
