Brixton Motorcycles Enters India: A New Era Of Neo-Retro Biking

Austrian brand Brixton Motorcycles arrived on the Indian scene via KAW Veloce Motors. The brand introduced four models, all produced locally in Kolhapur, Maharashtra. Deliveries starting in January 2025 will be a major turning point in India’s mid-premium motorbike market.

The launch lineup calls for the Crossfire 500 and Cromwell 1200 series. Two variants of the Crossfire 500 series include the sporty 500X and tough 500 XC. The 500 XC is a scrambler for off-road riding, but the 500 X is a café racer.

Each model boasts a 486cc inline twin-cylinder engine generating 47.6 horsepower and 47 Nm torque. Their top speed is 160 kmph, and their gearbox runs six speeds. The 500 XC uses 19-inch wheels; the Crossfire 500X has 17-inch wheels with inverted telescopic suspension. The 500X costs ₹4,74,101; the 500 XC costs ₹5,19,400.

The Cromwell 1200 series mixes current performance with classic design. It comprises the limited-edition Cromwell 1200 X as well as the roadster variant. A 1,222cc twin-cylinder engine generates 81.8 horsepower and 108 Nm torque driving the Cromwell 1200.

The Cromwell versions have a six-speed transmission and a top speed of 198k mh. The mileage claimed is 21.7 kmpl. Both versions have cruise control, an LCD instrument dashboard, and all-LED lighting. The Cromwell 1200 runs ₹7,83,899; the 1200 X runs ₹9,10,600.

Brixton guarantees cheap costs and simpler availability in India committing to local manufacturing. Attractive to many riders, the neo-retro design combines current performance with classic looks. Attracting middle-class shoppers, prices run from ₹4.74 lakh to ₹9.10 lakh (ex-showroom).

Brixton’s participation will enhance the neo-retro biking experience combining performance and design. Brixton is positioned to build a niche in India’s motorbike market with local manufacture and a carefully selected range.
