Developing Electric Powertrain Components for Commercial Vehicles in India: EKA Mobility and KPIT Technologies Work Together
On February 6, 2025 EKA Mobility and KPIT Technologies signed a memorandum of agreement to create electric powertrain technology components for commercial vehicles. The cooperation will center on developing traction motors, controllers, vehicle control systems, and battery management systems.
Targeting to increase energy efficiency and lower ownership costs, KPIT Technologies (NSE: KPITTECH, BSE: 5426) will offer its electric powertrain technologies to boost EKA’s electric buses and commercial vehicles.
The founder and chairman of EKA Mobility, Dr. Sudhir Mehta, said the cooperation will speed India’s shift to zero-emission commercial cars. KPIT Technologies CEO Kishor Patil underlined the emphasis on creating solutions for use scenarios unique to India.
With various manufacturers broadening their electric vehicle ranges, India’s commercial vehicle industry has seen rising efforts at electrification. By use of several incentives and laws, the government has been pushing acceptance of electric vehicles.
