In a spectacular Grand Opening Ceremony on Wednesday, December 6, Governor Acharya Devvrat of Gujarat illuminated the Millionaire Farmer of the Year Awards 2023 with a vision for transformative change in the agricultural sector. The event, held at a prominent venue, commenced with the ceremonial lighting of lamps, symbolizing the enlightenment of the agricultural landscape.
The welcoming address, delivered the event anchors, expressed gratitude for the presence of esteemed guests, dignitaries, and the farming community. Dr. U.S. Gautam, the Deputy Director General of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, set the tone for the evening, stating that “120 farmers in every district are benefiting from double farmer income.”
P Sathasivam, Former Chief Justice of India and Former Governor of Kerala, shared his enthusiasm for participating in the inaugural function of the Millionaire Farmer of India. He emphasized the need for transformation in the agriculture sector, stating, “MFOI signifies the call for transformation in the agriculture landscape and redefine the success in Indian agriculture.”
MC Dominic, in his heartfelt welcome speech, underscored the significance of recognizing and celebrating the dedication and hard work of farmers. He highlighted the vital role farmers play in contributing to the nation’s prosperity.
Governor Acharya Devvrat, the Chief Guest of the ceremony, delivered a compelling opening address. He drew attention to the challenges posed global warming and changing air and water dynamics impacting Indian agriculture, leading to a 10 to 15 percent reduction in wheat production and other crops. He stressed that carbon dioxide is 60 percent responsible for this decline.
The high point of the event was the presentation of District Level Awards to outstanding farmers who have excelled in their agricultural endeavors. These awards were conferred Governor Acharya Devvrat, recognizing the remarkable achievements of these individuals in making a substantial impact on the agricultural landscape.
