    trademark filed;
  • Expected to be introduced in 2026
  • Based on an all-new chassis and powertrain.

Hero MotoCorp filed a design trademark for the forthcoming Xpulse 421 in India following the unveiling of a teaser sketch at EICMA 2024. Packaging more firepower, amenities, and off-road credentials, the motorcycle will be a larger variation of the current Xpulse 200, luring additional off-road fans in the segment and allowing current Xpulse 200 owners to upgrade.

It is abundantly evident from the design trademark image that the Xpulse 421 will be a suitable sub-500 cc dual-purpose adventure motorcycle with a large windscreen, robust radiator shrouds, engine bash plate, luggage rack and mounts, knuckle guards, air intake scoops, low seat and high ground clearance. While the patent pictures look to have some form of covering around the chassis, we expect it to be less with the commercial version; the motorcycle will be built around a newly designed trellis frame. Expecting to generate peak power output in the 40 horsepower ballpark, the motorcycle will run on a new 421 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor coupled to a 6-speed gearbox.

Higher-spec cycle equipment, including USDs and linked-type monoshocks, block-pattern tires, radial brake calpier in the front, and rider aids, will equip the motorcycle to be a more solid off-roader. The motorcycle will run on a 21–18 wheel arrangement using wire-spoke wheels.

Hero has been in the testing stage of the new Xpulse 421 for some years; hence, the end of 2025, we should have the production version ready, followed its introduction in 2026. Launched, the Xpulse 421 will challenge the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, the soon-to-be new KTM 390 Adventure, and, should launched then, the TVS Apache RTX.
