Honda unveiled new V3 engine

Honda has revealed the development of a 75-degree V3 engine that claims to be both small and powerful for bigger-displacement motorcycles. Thanks to the electric compressor, Honda says this new water-cooled engine is made to be small and intended to produce great torque even at low revolutions. Its small size results from the design of a single cylinder towards the back and a forward cylinder bank with two pots.

Independent of engine speed, this compressor technology guarantees an instantaneous torque response allowing the compression of the intake air to be regulated. According to Honda, one of the main benefits of the electric compressor is its design flexibility, which is absolutely essential for motorcycles with limited space. Mass centralizing has been given top priority Honda’s engineers, who have also optimized balance and handling instead of using an intercooler, there saving even more room.

The end effect is an engine arrangement that, according to the Japanese manufacturer, guarantees a seamless and responsive ride. Honda’s larger plan to appeal to a wide range of riders, from daily commuters to those looking for high-performance models, revolves on the V3 engine. Honda intends to go toward mass manufacturing eventually, and the V3 engine is expected to be included in bigger vehicles.
