Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has launched the updated Hyundai Verna sedan in Gurugram with a starting price of ₹10,98,400 (ex-showroom). Hyundai first introduced the Verna in India in 2006, and the model has remained one of the country’s best-selling mid-size sedans since then. With the latest update, the company has introduced more than 25 changes along with several new features that it claims are segment firsts.
Exterior Design
Hyundai has refreshed the design of the new Verna with several exterior updates. The sedan now features a black chrome radiator grille, dual LED projector headlamps, and redesigned bumpers at the front and rear, which give the car a more premium and aggressive look. The updated model also receives new R16 diamond-cut alloy wheels that enhance its sporty appearance. The Verna continues to offer a 2,670 mm wheelbase, which Hyundai says is the longest in the segment. The sedan also measures 1,765 mm in width and 4,565 mm in overall length, dimensions that help provide more cabin space and improved shoulder room for passengers. Hyundai has also introduced two new colour options — Classy Blue and Titan Grey Matte. With these additions, the Verna is now available in six monotone colours and one dual-tone option.
Safety and ADAS Features
The updated Verna now comes equipped with SmartSense Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). This system includes 20 driver assistance features designed to improve safety and driver awareness. These features include forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, and driver attention warning. Hyundai also states that the Verna is the first car in its segment to offer seven airbags on select variants, covering the driver, front passenger, side, curtain, and centre-side positions. The sedan also gains new safety additions such as a dashcam, blind-spot view monitor, and rain-sensing wipers. Across the entire lineup, Hyundai provides 35 standard safety features, including six airbags, ABS with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), electronic stability control (ESC) with vehicle stability management (VSM), hill-start assist, front disc brakes, ISOFIX child-seat mounts, and rear parking sensors. Higher trims add four-wheel disc brakes, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and an electronic parking brake with auto-hold.
Interior and Comfort

Inside the cabin, Hyundai has added several new comfort and convenience features. The Verna now features a D-cut steering wheel, leatherette seat upholstery, and a revised instrument panel. The driver’s seat now offers eight-way electric adjustment with a memory function and a welcome-retract feature that automatically moves the seat backward when the driver exits and restores it to the saved position when the driver re-enters the vehicle. The front passenger seat gets four-way electric adjustment along with an electric walk-in device, which slides the seat forward to improve access to the rear seats. Hyundai claims this feature is a segment first. The sedan also gains a rear window sunshade, a smart powered boot, and a 528-litre boot capacity, which the company says is the largest in the segment. The cabin also includes a Bose premium eight-speaker sound system for enhanced audio quality. Hyundai has introduced a switchable control panel within the infotainment screen, allowing the climate control interface to be toggled within the same touchscreen, another feature the company claims is a segment first. Existing features such as ambient lighting on the dashboard and door trims, rear air-air-conditioning vents with Type-C USB ports, adjustable headrests for all seats, a sliding front armrest with storage, and a rear centre armrest with cupholders continue in the updated model.
Infotainment and Connected Technology
The Verna now features dual 10.25-inch integrated displays that serve as the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system. Hyundai says this setup offers the largest screen configuration in the segment. The infotainment system runs on Hyundai’s Bluelink connected-car platform, which now supports more than 70 connected features. These include remote lamp control, hazard light activation, a find-my-car function using the surround-view camera feed, and remote light-only control. The system also supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless smartphone charger, and more than 350 voice commands. It also offers a multi-language interface for both the instrument cluster and infotainment display, making the system easier to use for a wider range of customers.
Engine and Performance
The updated Verna continues with two petrol engine options. The first is a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated MPi petrol engine that is designed for everyday driving and is paired with either a six-speed manual transmission or an Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT). The second option is a 1.5-litre turbocharged GDi petrol engine, which produces 160 PS at 5,500 rpm and 253 Nm of torque between 1,500 and 3,500 rpm. Hyundai claims these figures represent the highest output in the segment for this engine capacity. This engine is available with a six-speed manual gearbox or a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). The Verna also offers three drive modes — Normal, Eco, and Sport — allowing drivers to adjust the vehicle’s performance characteristics. DCT variants also receive paddle shifters, while an Idle Stop and Go (ISG) system helps improve fuel efficiency during city driving. Hyundai has not announced any diesel or electrified powertrain options for this update.
Variants and Pricing

The updated Hyundai Verna is available in six variants — HX2, HX4, HX6, HX6+, HX8, and HX10. The base HX2 variant with the 1.5-litre MPi petrol engine and six-speed manual gearbox is priced at ₹10,98,400 (ex-showroom). The top-spec HX10 variant, which comes with the turbocharged petrol engine and seven-speed DCT, is priced at ₹18,25,400 (ex-showroom). The pricing for the MPi manual variants ranges from ₹10,98,400 to ₹14,88,400, while the MPi IVT variants are priced between ₹14,40,400 and ₹17,15,400. The Turbo GDi manual variant is priced at ₹16,28,400, and the Turbo GDi DCT variants range from ₹17,62,400 to ₹18,25,400 (all prices ex-showroom). With these updates, Hyundai aims to strengthen the Verna’s position in the competitive mid-size sedan segment in India.
