Kush Maini, a 24-year-old driver from Bengaluru, has made history by becoming the first Indian to win a Formula 2 race at the Monaco Grand Prix. On May 24, Maini claimed the top spot in the sprint race, driving for DAMS Lucas Oil, with a flawless performance from pole to finish. This impressive victory marks a significant milestone for Indian motorsport.

Maini’s journey to this win has been impressive. He began his racing career in Italian and British F4 championships, later progressing to the Formula Renault Eurocup and finishing runner-up in the 2020 BRDC British Formula 3 Championship. In Formula 2, Maini has driven for several teams, including Campos Racing and Invicta Racing, where he secured five podiums and a win in Hungary, contributing to Invicta’s 2024 Constructors’ Championship win. He currently drives for DAMS.

In addition to his Formula 2 career, Maini serves as a reserve driver for the Alpine F1 team and Mahindra Racing in Formula E. His historic win at Monaco is a testament to his skill and dedication, and he is sure to inspire a new generation of Indian racers.
