Maruti Jimny prices slashed, new Thunder Edition launched at Rs 10.74 lakh

Maruti Suzuki launched the highly anticipated Jimny in May this year. The prices for the new Jimny starts at Rs 12.74 lakh (ex-showroom). The general opinion about the 5-door Jimny is that it’s too pricey, especially for a subcompact SUV. Keeping this in mind, the company has launched a new more affordable version of Jimny.

The new Jimny Thunder Edition is a limited-run model of Jimny with prices starting at Rs 10.74 lakh and going up to Rs 14.05 lakh (ex-showroom). The Thunder Edition is available across all the four variants of Jimny lineup and available for sale only for December 2023.

Maruti offers the Jimny Thunder Edition with some additional standard accessories to spruce up the aesthetics. This includes special body decals. In addition, it comes with a silver garnish on the front bumper, side door cladding, door visor, and garnishes on the ORVMs, hood, and front and side fenders.

Cabin interiors are also improved with floor mats (different for manual and automatic variants), and a tan-finish steering wheel. Rest of the equipment and layout inside the cabin remains the same. It boasts of features like a 9-inch touchscreen, cruise control, auto climate control, electronic stability programme (ESP), a reverse parking camera, and six airbags.

Maruti Jimny Thunder Edition: Powertrain

As expected, powertrain specs on the Jimny Thunder Edition remain unchanged. It is powered a 1.5-litre K15B naturally aspirated petrol engine. The engine generates 104 bhp and 134 Nm of peak torque. This unit is paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. All variants get a 4×4 drivetrain with a low-range gearbox.
