Renault Duster 4X4

Like Jeep’s 4xe tech, the Duster 4X4 will feature an electronic back axle. Already on sale overseas, the all-new Renault Duster will arrive in India next year. The firm is getting ready to introduce the Duster 4X4 with a special mild-hybrid engine. Motor.es’ spy images reveal that the off-road-oriented model will include a petrol hybrid as well as a petrol-LPG engine choice.

The Duster 4X4 runs a petrol mild-hybrid engine. Its electric back axle will be shared with the Bigster. Most likely 2031 the Duster EV will arrive.

Test mules on the outskirts of Spain have lately been reported with the Duster with the 1.2-liter ECO-G engine, 48-volt MHEV tech, and 4X4 gear. The future production model will show this engine paired with a petrol-LPG tech. Although the petrol MHEV LPG powerplant is still under testing, the test mule seen in these spy images includes a side-mounted exhaust positioned immediately in front of the left rear wheel, which might not be seen in the production version.

Running on gasoline-LPG, this engine has a 150 hp power output. Driven through a dual-clutch automatic gearbox, it will include a 48V electric motor acting on the rear axle should loss of traction arise. This all-wheel-drive technology will operate similarly to that of the Jeep Avenger 4xe. The Renault Bigster SUV will likewise see action with the same electric rear axle configuration.

Depending on the market, the 2017 Duster now has three powertrain choices: a 100hp 1.0-litre bi-fuel three-cylinder engine, a 130hp 1.2-litre mild-hybrid, and the top-spec 140hp 1.6-litre petrol-hybrid.

An electric Renault Duster is also under development; however, it won’t arrive soon, as we just mentioned. Most likely arriving in 2030 or 2031, the next-generation Duster could have an electric engine.

The next Duster from Renault India is scheduled for 2026. Significant revisions for the Kiger and the Triber are ready for market introduction this year.
