Swaraj Tractors, a division of the Mahindra Group, has collaborated with Mahindra Susten to develop a 26 MW solar group captive project in Bathinda district, Punjab. This ambitious project aims to generate approximately 60 million kWh of clean energy annually, significantly contributing to the reduction of around 54,600 tonnes of CO2 emissions.

In line with Swaraj Tractors’ commitment to sustainability, this initiative is part of the company’s broader goal to increase its renewable energy share to 50 percent. The 26 MW solar installation will supply electricity to four of Swaraj Tractors’ manufacturing units located in Mohali and Dera Bassi, further reducing the company’s carbon footprint.

Hemant Sikka, President of the Farm Equipment Sector at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, hailed the development as “a pioneering step in introducing green energy at such a large scale in tractor manufacturing for the first time in India.” Echoing this sentiment, Gaganjot Singh, CEO of the Swaraj Division, emphasized that the solar project underscores their commitment to creating a cleaner, more sustainable future for generations to come.
