Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has announced that its Fortuner and Legender SUVs have achieved a milestone of cumulative sales of 3 lakh units in India. The Fortuner, launched in 2009, has been a consistent bestseller, while the Legender, introduced in 2021, has added a new dimension to the Fortuner lineup with its luxury features.

The Fortuner is available with a range of engine options, including a 2.7-litre petrol engine that produces 164bhp and 245Nm of torque, and a 2.8-litre diesel engine that produces 201bhp and up to 500Nm of torque. The SUV is available in both rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive options, making it suitable for both urban and off-road usage. The price range for the Fortuner series starts at Rs 33.78 lakh and goes up to Rs 51.94 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Legender variant, launched in 2021, targets urban drivers with its luxury features, including dual-tone styling, sequential LED turn indicators, wireless charging capability, and an 11-speaker JBL audio system. Despite its urban focus, the Legender retains the 4×4 capabilities of the Fortuner platform, making it a versatile SUV.

Both the Fortuner and Legender are manufactured at TKM’s plant in Bidadi, which has an installed production capacity of up to 1,32,000 units annually. The facility also produces other popular Toyota models, including the Innova HyCross and Innova Crysta, for the Indian market.
