With the state-of-the-art Surajpur factory producing over 1 million R15 units, this milestone highlights Yamaha’s manufacturing prowess and dedication to global quality standards in satisfying India’s rising demand for luxury motorcycles and so supporting world markets. Given the increasing demand for high-end motorbikes, IYM prioritized Indian consumers, selling over 90% of these machines in the country. With its legendary style and race-inspired engineering, the Yamaha R15 has set new standards in the performance motorcycle market since its introduction in 2008. With production quantities rising with every successive generation to match growing demand, the R15 model continues to lead its category, having a continuous increase over 16 years.

Over generations, the Yamaha R15 has reshaped the super sport market in India. Originally debuted in 2008, it brought a liquid-cooled engine, a DiASil Cylinder, and a Deltabox frame, redefining standards for performance and handling. With an aluminum swingarm and sportier styling, the R15 V2.0 (2011) improved agility; the R15 S focused on comfort. The R15 V3 received a 155cc VVA engine, an Assist & Slipper Clutch, and luxury extras such as inverted forks and LED lighting in 2018.
