Escorts Kubota has marked 30 years of the Farmtrac brand in India with the launch of the 6055 Classic ‘Dark Edition’ and an expansion of its PROMAXX tractor range under the new PROMAXX 2.0 line-up.
The Farmtrac 6055 Classic ‘Dark Edition’ is the brand’s first all-black tractor. Positioned in the 55 HP category, it will be offered in both two-wheel-drive (2WD) and four-wheel-drive (4WD) configurations. The PROMAXX 2.0 range, meanwhile, adds the 47 HT PROMAXX and 50 PROMAXX, with both models available in 2WD and 4WD versions.
Farmtrac 6055 Classic Dark Edition: 55 HP tractor
The Farmtrac 6055 Classic ‘Dark Edition’ is powered by a four-cylinder, 3,682cc engine producing a maximum torque of 247Nm. It gets a hydraulic lift capacity of 2,500kg and is equipped with LED lighting and a heat shield.
Farmtrac says the tractor is designed for a range of demanding agricultural and haulage applications, including super seeding, laser levelling, reversible mould board ploughing, rotavation and harrowing. Its 2WD and 4WD configurations allow customers to choose the drivetrain according to their operating requirements.
PROMAXX 2.0 range expands with 47 HP and 50 HP models
The PROMAXX 2.0 range now includes the 47 HT PROMAXX and 50 PROMAXX. Both models use Farmtrac’s 3,514cc High Torque engine, which develops up to 230Nm of torque.
The tractors feature a 12-forward, three-reverse gearbox, along with a creeper speed option and a flat operator platform. Both models are available in 2WD and 4WD configurations, with the 4WD versions aimed at applications where additional traction is required.
Farmtrac focuses on higher torque and 4WD demand

Nikhil Nanda, chairman and managing director of Escorts Kubota, said the new products are part of the company’s strategy to strengthen the Farmtrac portfolio with application-led offerings across important horsepower categories.
Akira Kato, deputy managing director, said the 41-50 HP category remains the largest segment of India’s domestic tractor market. He added that demand within the segment is increasingly moving towards higher-torque and 4WD tractors as customers adopt more demanding agricultural applications.
Neeraj Mehra, chief officer, Tractor Business Division, said the increasing adoption of heavy-duty mechanisation and changing customer expectations are driving demand for tractors offering greater utility, comfort and additional features. The company is positioning the PROMAXX 2.0 range around higher torque, creeper-speed capability and operator comfort, while the 6055 Classic ‘Dark Edition’ adds a distinctive styling option to the 55 HP category.
