Bajaj Auto has launched the 2026 Bajaj Dominar 400 with a surprising change. The company has reduced the engine capacity to 349.13cc. This move helps the motorcycle fall under the lower 18% GST slab. Earlier, the bike attracted a much higher tax rate.
This strategic shift allows Bajaj to reduce pricing while keeping performance nearly the same.
Price Drop Makes It More Attractive
Bajaj has priced the new Dominar 400 at Rs 2.03 lakh (ex-showroom). This makes it around Rs 37,000 cheaper than the outgoing model.
This price reduction positions the Dominar as a more value-for-money touring motorcycle in India.
Engine and Performance
The new Dominar 400 uses a 349.13cc, single-cylinder engine. It produces 40.6 PS of power and 33.2 Nm of torque. The engine comes paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
Power output remains unchanged compared to the previous model. However, torque has slightly reduced by 1.8 Nm.

Despite the smaller engine, real-world performance is expected to remain strong.
Design and Colour Options
Bajaj has retained the same muscular design. The bike continues to look bold and road-focused.
Available colour options include:
- Aurora Green
- Charcoal Black
Suspension and Braking Setup

The Dominar 400 continues with premium hardware:
- USD (Upside Down) front forks
- Rear monoshock suspension
- Disc brakes at both ends
This setup ensures stability and comfort for long-distance rides.
Features and Technology
The motorcycle remains feature-rich and practical for both city and highway use.
Key features include:
- Full-LED lighting
- Digital instrument console
- Dual-channel ABS
- Traction control
- Assist and slipper clutch
Why Bajaj Reduced Engine Capacity
Bajaj’s decision is mainly driven by taxation benefits. Bikes below 350cc attract lower GST. This helps reduce the overall cost for buyers.

At the same time, Bajaj has maintained performance figures close to the older 400cc version. This makes the update more practical than it may seem at first.
